New Zealand Red Cross

The New Zealand Red Cross is part of the global Red Cross humanitarian organisation with over 10,000 members, volunteers and staff working in Aotearoa. Their work covers NZ disaster response, Meals on Wheels, overseas relief campaigns, supporting former refugees, First Aid training and more.

I was hired primarily as a writer (Philanthropy Adviser of Direct Marketing) for the direct mailouts and direct correspondence. However, most of my contract consisted of writing new copy and rewriting old copy for Red Cross Journeys (EDMs sent to people fundraising to follow stories from former refugees) and extensive rewriting of website copy. I was then brought on to co-produce and direct the Philanthropy department’s annual photoshoot.
